REAL-TIME SALES DATA CAPTURE

Real-Time Sales Data Capture for Airports

See what your retail estate is selling while it is still being sold.

StoreSense captures transaction-level sales data directly from concessionaire POS terminals across your terminals and units, validates it, standardises it, and puts it in front of your commercial team in near real time.

No chasing monthly spreadsheets. No reconciling four versions of the same number.

Capture Every Sales Transaction in Real Time

In most airports, the commercial team is the last to find out how the retail estate performed. Concessionaires submit sales figures on their own schedule and in their own format. Finance re-keys them, queries the gaps, and reconciles the differences. By the time anyone trusts the numbers, the trading month that produced them has closed.

StoreSense replaces that reporting cycle with a direct data feed. A fragrance sold in duty free at 6:40 a.m., a coffee bought at a Terminal 2 F&B unit during a delay, a headphone purchase at a specialty kiosk: each sale is captured at the point of transaction with its value, time, store, and category attached.

Sales per passenger by terminal, or an outlet that has quietly stopped reporting, becomes visible the same day.

How Real-Time Sales Data Capture Works

01
Capture at the point of sale

A purpose-built StoreSense device sits between the POS terminal and receipt printer. No software is installed on the retailer's checkout system. Retailers can also send data via REST APIs, flat files, or secure FTP.

02
Validation

Records are checked as they arrive, so incomplete, duplicated, or malformed transactions surface at the entry point.

03
Standardization

Different POS vendors describe the same sale in different ways. StoreSense maps incoming fields to a common structure.

04
Centralized visibility

Validated, standardized transactions form a single commercial dataset available through role-based dashboards and reports.

05
Downstream use

That same data feeds concessionaire analytics, contract-based income computation, and billing.

Why Airports Need Real-Time POS Data Capture

Reduce manual sales reporting

Automated feed removes most of the manual work and disputes.

Improve transaction visibility

See how flight schedules drive spend, by hour and by unit.

Improve data accuracy

Data captured once, at source, does not accumulate errors.

Support revenue assurance

Independent capture gives the airport its own record of what was sold.

Improve concessionaire transparency

Both sides work from the same dataset.

Enable faster commercial decisions

Respond to this week's trading instead of last quarter's summary.

Built for Complex Airport Retail Environments

Any airport can run dozens of outlets across several terminals, operated by different concessionaires on different POS platforms under different contract terms. Duty free produces high-value baskets. F&B produces high transaction counts at low values.

StoreSense is built for that mix. It is multi-tenant, scales across terminals, and supports LAN, Wi-Fi, and 4G/5G connectivity where cabling is impractical.

In case of a network failure, transactions are held on the device's in-built storage and forwarded once connectivity returns, and even in case of power failure it has a built-in battery to keep it online — so an outage delays visibility rather than losing records. Onboarding a new concessionaire is largely an easy configuration exercise, which keeps airport IT off the critical path.

From POS Transactions to Revenue Assurance

Accurate transaction data is the input every downstream commercial process depends on. Automated, standardized capture supports revenue reporting from actual transactions, reconciliation with less manual matching, and billing that reflects what was genuinely sold.

It also improves visibility into unreported transactions, misclassified products, unusual void patterns, or an outlet that goes quiet.

StoreSense does not eliminate leakage on its own. Reliable capture helps identify discrepancies early enough for your team to ask the right question while the answer still matters.

Why StoreSense for Real-Time Sales Data Capture?

StoreSense was designed for airport commercial operations rather than adapted from a general retail analytics tool. That shows in the details: concessionaire revenue-share logic, terminal and category hierarchies, and a capture method chosen because airport retailers resist changes to a certified POS.
